With taxiing my boys around to all their extra curricular activities I’ve let the housework slide quite a bit. But now that their hockey season is over we can now get down to some much needed housecleaning. I learned that I needed to get the boys involved otherwise my housecleaning efforts are useless, so we came up with a pretty good system. First of all it had to be fun and this took a bit of trial and error. I armed my youngest who is 5 with a rag and a spray bottle filled with vinegar and water and let him go nuts. He just loves looking for things he can clean. He’ll clean all the hard surfaces even the walls! My older boy aged 7 loves vacuuming and washing floors, so we use one of those jet mops where you put the pads on the bottom (we use rags) and press a button to squirt out the cleaner, this saves on a big mess and it’s fun for him. But one of the best ways to make it fun and pump up the adrenaline is by cranking up our favourite music and just going crazy.
